About DMIA

Dreamers Mothers in Action (DMIA) is an immigrant-led, grassroots organization founded in 2012 in Northern Virginia. We bring together immigrant mothers, domestic and care workers, and families to build stronger communities. We believe our communities deserve more than just support. They deserve a voice, opportunities, and the power to shape their own future. Through education, mutual aid, leadership, and advocacy, we turn everyday struggles into collective strength and lasting change. Together, we build a future rooted in dignity, justice, and community power.

What We Stand For

We bring people together by hosting cultural events and creating welcoming spaces that celebrate diversity and shared experiences.

At our core, we believe in mutual support and collective power to transform systems and uplift marginalized voices.

We stand up for vulnerable workers by advocating for fair labor laws, safe working conditions, and protection from exploitation.

We help the community access vital services, including legal aid, food security, healthcare, and housing.

Legislative Goals and Focuses

Supporting Crucial Policies, Legal Reforms, and Enhanced Government Regulation

Domestic and care workers are essential to our families and communities. We organize workers to know their rights, speak up for fair wages, and advocate for safer workplaces and stronger labor protections.

We help families understand how local and state decisions affect their lives, develop leaders, and make their voices heard. Through education and community organizing, we show that everyone has the power to make a difference, with or without a vote.

We partner with trusted organizations, legal advocates, and community leaders to connect families with resources, remove barriers, and build communities where everyone has access to support and opportunities.
